Intelligent Finishing Systems Ltd is one of the leading suppliers of finishing equipment to the graphic arts sectors in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The IFS range includes market-leading automated systems in all of the key finishing disciplines, including saddle stitching, perfect binding, folding and laminating. This affirms IFS as the defining point of reference for professional finishing solutions in the high street, commercial and specialist sectors.

Key long-term supplier and customer relationships that have spanned more than 35 years have enabled IFS to curate a portfolio of systems that are at the cutting edge of sector specific technologies.

Among them is the exclusive distributer relationship with Horizon in the UK and Ireland. Horizon Corporation began life in Kyoto, Japan, more than 65 years ago as a specialist scientific equipment manufacturer and developed through technology transfer into manufacturing automated and computer controlled quality assured print finishing systems for the graphic arts industry. Today the specialist in on-demand finishing solutions, it is the leading manufacturer worldwide in the supply of highly automated finishing systems.

Horizon’s fully-owned subsidiary, Horizon GmbH, runs a purpose-built facility at Quickborn, near Hamburg, to house the German operation and spare parts distribution hub for the European region. The 3,000 m2 premises, which represents a €5 million investment incorporates extensive demonstration and training facilities.

Among the most recent equipment to join the IFS portfolio include the Horizon StitchLiner Mark III saddle stitching line and the Horizon BQ-480 perfect binder.

  • Czech lamination specialist Foliant which builds robust and simple to run systems with intuitive controls and easy maintenance. Fast machine set-ups and adjustments help ensure economical operation. Since 1999 Foliant has consistently led the way in the development and manufacture of sector-leading solutions. Operating to the highest international quality standards. Its range includes the new Foliant Taurus 540NG 4×4 double sided laminator and features a solution to meet every requirement, from entry-level smaller format single-sided laminating to specialist applications.
  • Tecnau was founded in 1988 in Italy to develop automation technologies. Since 2011, following the merger of Tecnau and Lasermax Roll Systems, the Tecnau Group has been established as a leading supplier of pre, post and finishing on demand solutions for the digital printing industry.
  • Perfecta is the longest established of the mainstream guillotine, 3-knife trimmer and paper handling systems manufacturers. Founded in Bautzen, Germany, in 1896, Perfecta has consistently led the way with design innovation and advanced manufacturing techniques to deliver excellent production solutions for an ever more demanding market place.
  • Petratto is a family business which began in 1938 as a dedicated commercial bookbinder and has since become a leading innovator in the development of industrial post-press paper and board processing and converting solutions. Petratto’s in-depth, hands-on understanding of the challenges and requirements of this fast-evolving sector has informed the novel and often unique character of its innovations – from feeders and scorers through to complex automated die-creasing and folder-gluing systems.
