Pixartprinting is fine tuning a new short run book printing service, available through its website, and delivered at ‘competitive prices’.
Italian online trade printer Pixartprinting says it is seeing increasing demand from a variety of customers for the option of printing short runs of books, and this is why it has developed a new project to offer such a service.
The company said that small publishers, emerging authors, copy shops that print dissertations and ‘anyone who wants to fulfil their dream of publishing (printing and binding) their own manuscript’ can now find that fulfilment through Pixart’s experience and up to date technology.
‘The major revolution it offers is the chance to print books online at competitive prices for all sizes of order, including short print runs, starting from a minimum of 10 copies,’ the company’s statement said, adding: ‘This comes with the guarantee that has always seen Pixartprinting’s service stand out from its competitors: customers are assured ease of use, cutting-edge technology, high print quality, quick, guaranteed delivery times and pre- and post-sale customer service.’
Alessandro Tenderini, chief executive officer at Pixartprinting, expanded on this, saying: ‘Our mission is to constantly expand our catalogue to meet emerging needs. The trend we are currently seeing in this sector is increasing demand from a wide variety of clients for printing just a few copies of books. We have always paid great attention to technological innovation, and particularly in the manufacturing sector. Thanks to our implementation of dedicated cutting-edge production lines, we can offer competitive solutions in terms of price and minimum quantities that other players on the market cannot match.’
These days, Pixart declines to comment on the specific technology it is using as a matter of policy. However, it did say that book covers can be printed to ‘photographic-quality colour’, and it is offering its online shop customers four different book formats (11 x 18 cm, 15 x 21 cm, 17 x 24 cm and 21 x 29.7 cm), all produced with stitched paperback binding, for long-lasting results and the ‘highest possible’ binding quality. Inside pages are printed digitally in black and white on uncoated 90 gsm paper. The minimum width of the spine is 0.6 cm, and the maximum is 3.6 cm. The book can contain between 80 and 608 pages.
There are many more options for Pixartprinting customers to choose from. For front covers, the options include with or without flaps, with matte or gloss lamination, and printed in colour or black and white. Customers with specific requests for publishing products such as books, catalogues or magazines, including longer print runs, can create their ideal solution by choosing their preferred grammage of paper for the inside pages, their favoured cover material and the most suitable binding technique, with options to choose from ranging from stitched paperback binding to perfect binding, wiro binding and stapled binding. In addition, for stitched paperback binding, the book can be printed in portrait or landscape orientation, with colour printing on the inside pages, and with gloss or matte coated or uncoated papers.
Mr Tenderini said the company was working to improve turnaround times for the book offering, saying: ‘This is a new project for us and we are at the fine-tuning stage. At the moment we deliver in six to eight working days, but we expect that delivery times for this product will soon match the excellent times that we offer for our other products.’
Pixartprinting is not looking to offer any publishing or marketing services alongside the book printing offering. It is, it stresses, a pure web to print service for professional customers. To make its process simpler for customers it has recently enhanced its online services with Upload and Print, a concept which extends the production capabilities of customers, acting as a metaphorical large, hi-tech printer on their desk. The user only has to create and upload the print file, as if the device from which it is uploaded were connected directly to Pixart’s production department. With a single click, it said, clients have cutting-edge printing services at their disposal.
