Duplo has seen a number of installs through September and October, with customers reporting improvements in efficiency, set-up times and sustainability.

Firstly, Leeds based commercial printer, Print Work, has added a new DC-618 with an F-100 integrated folder and a new DBM-700 Booklet System, to its set-up.

Supplied by CJB, the company first saw a Duplo DC-616 back in 2017, though waited to install the machine for some months. However, once installed it has been in constant use. Further technology installs and advise from CJB has arrived at Print Work since, but it wasn’t until this September the company took the decision to install the DC-618, DC-F100 and DBM-700 digital booklet maker with square spine module, to its 4500 sq ft offices.

Dave Rushton, one of the directors at Print Work commented, ‘We’ve been dealing with CJB for over four years now, and Carl and Josh have been amazing. Their advice is invaluable and their knowledge of Duplo equipment is unrivalled. They are always at the other end of the phone with advice and techniques that make us much more efficient and we get the best usage out of our Duplo equipment.’ Mr Rushton continued, ‘All of our upgrades came after we realised that we needed more capacity, the increase in automation really helps us keep up with the orders.

Duplo drives efficiency with multiple installs

Roger Severn, CEO of Aquatint

Based in Wimbledon, London, printer Aquatint has also upgraded its DBM-500 with the new DBM-700 Booklet System with square spine module, along with a new DC-618 multi-finisher and DF-1300L desktop folder. Specialising in short-run brochure and events work for agencies and brands, this investment marks a key step in the company’s ongoing commitment to efficiency and high-quality service.

Aquatint CEO, Roger Severn, commented, ‘Replacing the DBM-500 and competitor’s booklet-making machine with the new Duplo equipment has brought a transformative upgrade. The new booklet system has opened our eyes to how far the new technology has come, compared to the old, the automation, the quality of the booklets produced – the faster set-up and make-ready times – it’s all so much better.’

The addition of the DC-618 has relieved pressure on the guillotines, while all three machines have reduced delivery times due to their quick setup and ease of operation. Mr Severn continued, ‘The speed of make-ready and simplicity of running these machines have improved our production process. We don’t know why we didn’t invest in a DC-618 years ago to handle the increasing number of smaller-run cutting jobs. It was ridiculous trying to cut a handful of business cards or a few leaflet sheets on a B1 guillotine. The DF-1300L folder also allows us to bring some work back in-house, improving efficiency and turnaround times.’
