Digital print server developer Fiery has become a subsidiary of Epson, after the latter reported that it has officially completed all procedures to acquire the business from Electronics for Imaging.

The acquisition cost Epson $568.7 million (£448.4 million), and as the amount invested is more than 10% of Fiery’s capital, the company becomes a specified subsidiary of Epson.

The transaction was first reported in Digital Printer on 20 September 2024, with Epson saying that Fiery’s Digital Front End (DFE) software, server, and workflow solutions would complement its strategic vision and hardware leadership to accelerate the growth of digital printing. It was also reported that Fiery would retain its current name and organisational structure and continue to operate from its existing offices once the deal was completed.

Epson said it plans to include Fiery in its consolidated financial results from the third quarter of the fiscal year ending 31 March 2025. It added that the impact of this acquisition on its future business performance is currently under scrutiny, and that it will promptly broadcast any matters that should be publicly announced.
