Konica Minolta’s Japanese production site for digital printing systems, Konica Minolta Mechatronics, has attained the goal of procuring 100% of the electricity it uses from renewable sources. This has been achieved by purchasing and applying non-fossil certificates with tracking at its four sites in total, says the company.
The company added that all its own global production sites that manufacture MFPs and digital printing systems (excluding those of toner) have achieved the goal of procuring 100% of the electricity they use from renewable sources.
Konica Minolta Mechatronics installed a solar power generation system, using a power purchase agreement (PPA), at its head office in 2021. The system provides approximately 13% of the electricity required by the head office plant – an estimation based on the electricity consumed from April 2023 to March 2024.
Konica Minolta has been working to reduce CO2 emissions throughout its life cycle and has steadily produced results, it said. In 2009, the company formulated ‘Eco Vision 2050,’ a long-term environmental goal. In May 2023, it launched a new vision to achieve ‘net zero’ CO2 emissions from the product life cycle by 2050, a goal revised upward from the reduction of 80%.
Konica Minolta is also a member of RE100, a global leadership initiative that brings together businesses aiming to source 100% renewable energy for their operations. The company will enhance its reduction capabilities to achieve net zero emissions by sourcing 100% renewable energy for its operations by 2050, concluded Konica Minolta.
