At Hunkeler Innovation Days, which will take place in Lucerne, Switzerland, from 24-27 February 2025, Müller Martini will present three new solutions for smart factories. These will address inline production from the white signature to the finished softcover book; from the white roll to the finished softcover book; and automated saddle stitching.
The solutions presented incorporate the technology of Müller Martini’s partners, showing how digital printing and the company’s finishing lines can open up new possibilities for printers.
One highlight at the Müller Martini booth will be an inline solution for producing softcover books from white signatures in different formats and thicknesses. In cooperation with Heidelberg, the Jetfire 50 printing press will be presented, working in combination with the Starbook Sheetfolder from Hunkeler and the Vareo Pro perfect binder as well as the InfiniTrim trimming robot. This solution, said Müller Martini, is characterised by minimal operating effort, efficient production processes and a wide variety of possible applications.
In addition, another inline application will be presented, highlighting the process from the white roll to the finished softcover book. The product travels from the unprinted roll through the HP Advantage 2200 digital web press and the Starbook Plowfolder from Hunkeler. It is then finished on the Vareo Pro perfect binder and the InfiniTrim trimming robot. Designed for minimal staffing, this production line enables efficient production of softcover books right from the white roller, stated Müller Martini.
The highly automated Prinova Digital saddle stitcher will also be present. The company said this hybrid solution is ideal for the efficient, low-cost production of magazines, brochures and catalogues in small print runs.
