Scodix and supplier of cover materials Winter & Company have partnered to ‘transform’ the premium publishing industry.

The collaboration combines Scodix’s digital embellishment technology with Winter & Company’s book cover materials, catering to the growing demand for unique and sustainable solutions, with tactile and visual effects on premium products, explained Scodix.

Showcased at Hunkeler Innovation Days, which runs from 24-27 February, in Lucerne, Switzerland, Scodix will demonstrate its ability to embellish on Winter & Company’s materials, including leather and silk, and its range of branded substrates, including Skivertex, Napura, Corvon, and Wibalin.

Scodix’s Ultra 2500 Series and Ultra 6500 Series presses offer direct embellishment on uncoated substrates. Its multi-layer enhancement (MLE) process applies multiple Scodix layers in a single pass, delivering vibrant effects while maintaining a smooth texture, stated Scodix. The first layer acts as a selective micro-coating primer on uncoated substrates, preparing the surface for subsequent embellishments like Scodix Foil or Scodix Sense. This multi-layer flexibility unlocks limitless creative potential, the company added.

‘Combining Scodix’s cutting-edge digital embellishment technology with Winter & Company’s exquisite range of uncoated substrates empowers brands to create truly exceptional products,’ said Franz Repp, EMEA president of Scodix. ‘The ability to print and embellish directly onto materials like leather and silk opens doors to tactile and visual experiences that just weren’t possible until now, allowing producers to elevate their offerings and captivate consumers with unique and sustainable solutions.’
