Provider of fabric-backed vinyl wallcoverings, Newmor, has installed a Canon Colorado M5W printer, complemented by Neolt’s finishing solutions. This investment is intended to meet growing demand for bespoke digital wallcoverings, with faster production, higher quality, and greater efficiency.

Newmor’s decision to invest was driven primarily by a need for precision, scalability, and design flexibility. After market research, the Canon Colorado M5W, paired with Neolt finishing equipment, was selected as the ideal combination to support the company’s ambitions.

The Canon Colorado M5W, a “flagship” in Canon’s modular M series of UVgel printers, is known for its ability to handle jumbo rolls, boost production speed, and reduce lead times, said Canon.

Tracy Jones, Newmor’s studio and digital production manager, highlighted the printer’s capabilities which enable the company to produce high-quality digital prints at scale, offering creative flexibility with features like white ink, gloss, matt, and spot finishes. Newmor can now meet tight deadlines while remaining competitive, she added.

To further enhance efficiency, Newmor has integrated multiple Neolt finishing systems into its workflow. These include the Neolt XY Matic Plus 165; an automated XY cutting system for precision trimming; the Neolt Pneumatic Unwinder Rewinder 1650, which optimises large-format media handling; and the Neolt Wallpaper Jumbo XY Matic Plus 165, specifically designed for wallcoverings, which automates fast and precise trimming from jumbo rolls.

Ms Jones commented: “By eliminating manual trimming and reducing handling errors, we’ve drastically improved speed and accuracy, allowing us to deliver high-quality wallcoverings faster.”

The new solutions have streamlined Newmor’s production process, increasing volume, reducing material waste, and lowering operational costs. The Canon and Neolt systems seamlessly integrate into Newmor’s existing setup, which includes Mimaki printers, thanks to support provided by CMYUK, stated Newmor.

“This is just the beginning,” expressed Ms Jones. “We’re excited about what’s ahead and look forward to offering even more innovative and sustainable digital print solutions for commercial interiors.”
