Sappi has introduced Arboro, a board game that the company says combines premium quality with sustainable credentials, setting a new standard for the industry.
The game not only immerses players in an engaging experience but also educates them on the dynamics of the paper industry, explained Sappi. Players must manage sustainable paper production by balancing forest, water, and energy resources to meet customer demands.
Developed in partnership with board game specialists Game Brewer and produced by Cartamundi, Arboro showcases the versatility of modern paper solutions in creating an exceptional gaming experience, stated Sappi. Featuring illustrations by French artist Jules Dubost, the game integrates various paper grades for both visual appeal and performance.
Each component of Arboro has been crafted using specific paper grades. The game box and board feature Fusion Embossed papers, which reduce light reflection and enhance the design’s tactical depth. Action cards are printed on Algro Design Duo, providing superior handling and vivid colours; the paper money uses Magno Matt for durability and a tactile feel; while the rulebook is made from Magno Volume, ensuring excellent readability, said Sappi.
Conor Evers, Sappi Europe’s head of marketing, commented: “Game publishers are increasingly looking for sustainable production methods without compromising quality. With Arboro, we’re demonstrating how innovative paper solutions can enhance both the playing experience and environmental credentials of modern board games.”
Manufactured locally in Europe, with all paper components FSC-certified, Arboro offers a blueprint for sustainable, high-quality game production, concluded the company.
