Paper and packaging company James Cropper has appointed Paul Barber as its managing director of paper and packaging.
The appointment comes in the company’s 180th year of operation and follows the unification of its divisions – James Cropper Speciality Paper, Colourform, and Technical Fibre Products – under the unified name of James Cropper. This move is accompanied by the launch of the company’s new brand essence, ‘Making a Material Difference’.
Mr Barber brings a wealth of experience with over 25 years of experience in the paper and packaging industry. He began his career as an area sales manager at Sonoco, with subsequent roles at Weidenhammer Packaging Group, Smurfit Kappa, DS Smith, and Corrboard. Most recently, Mr Barber served as the managing director of Coveris Group.
Throughout his career, James Cropper said Mr Barber has built a strong track record in developing customer partnerships, driving operational stabilisation, and accelerating growth. His experience spans areas such as investment planning, new product development, employee engagement strategies, and manufacturing excellence.
Commenting on his appointment, Paul expressed excitement about joining James Cropper at a pivotal time in the company’s history, adding that he looks forward to contributing to the ongoing success and innovation of the brand.
The company has also bolstered its leadership with other strategic hires, including the appointment of David Stirling as chief executive officer earlier this year.
