PVC-free wide-format substrates maker Kavalan has launched the Kavalan Green Leader Awards, a new initiative aimed at recognising sustainable innovation in the wide-format print sector. The awards will celebrate projects that combine creativity and reduced environmental impact using Kavalan’s product range.
Open to wide-format print businesses and distribution partners, the awards will be judged by an independent panel with expertise in sustainability and print. The deadline for entries is Wednesday 16 April, 2025.
The judging panel includes Marcus Timson, co-founder of industry platform Future Print; Steve Lister, a global sustainability consultant; and Nick Widdowson, founder of ShopperFIRST and a board member of POPAI UK & Ireland. Winners will be announced at a reception on the Kavalan stand at the Fespa Global Print Expo in Berlin this May.
There are five categories to enter: the Innovation Award, Green Spirit Award, Powerhouse Award, Wrap Star Award, and Kavalan Champion Award.
According to Nova Abbott, head of marketing at Kavalan, the awards mark a return to the Fespa stage where the brand first launched in 2017. “We have seen some awe inspiring examples of how our customers use our PVC-free materials to deliver visual communications projects that are not only truly creative but are reducing the industry’s impact on the environment too,” she said.
Judge Marcus Timson said he welcomed the opportunity to help recognise projects that combine environmental responsibility with strong design. “I look forward to celebrating the positive impact Kavalan users and distributors are having by utilising PVC-free materials, without compromising on creativity or quality,” he commented.
