Canon UK & Ireland has appointed Guido Jacobs as its new managing director. Mr Jacobs previously led the business in 2014 as imaging technologies and communications group (ITCG) country director.

He brings with him more than three decades of experience at Canon, most recently leading the DACH region – Germany, Austria, and Switzerland – where he oversaw the integration of ITCG businesses across the region. In this position he played a key role in growing Canon’s imaging and inkjet printing product lines.

“I’m excited to take on this new challenge and lead the UK and Ireland team at such a pivotal time in the evolution of the printing and imagery industry,” said Mr Jacobs. “I’ve always been proud to work for Canon as a leader at the forefront of innovation, and it’s an honour to continue and build on the inspiring work of our leadership and wider teams.”

The appointment is intended to bolster Canon UK & Ireland’s presence during a period of change and opportunity in the imaging, printing, and technology sectors. His international experience and cross-departmental insight are expected to support Canon’s ambitions in the region.

Shinichi ‘Sam’ Yoshida, president and CEO for Canon EMEA – appointed earlier this year – commented: “Guido brings invaluable experience engaging with Canon customers across different regions and has a proven track record of leading local teams with an integrated strategy.”

Mr Jacobs succeeds Yusuke Mizoguchi, who has retired following a 40-year career at Canon, including six years as managing director of the UK & Ireland business.
