French printing software developer Caldera has launched GrandRIP, a new subscription RIP package for large format customers.

Caldera said the new subscription package provides a simple yet powerful RIP solution for industrial, flatbed and extra-wide printers. It offers a range of features that bring professional print and cut workflows within reach of small businesses. The new software complements the existing VisualRIP subscription product range.

GrandRIP’s user interface enables print service providers to produce high-quality visual communications, packaging, and industrial printing. By simplifying essential prepress, colour management, finishing, and automation, GrandRIP brings a host of user benefits and allows better ROI, stated the company.

Compatibility with a range of print and cut peripherals results in optimised workflows and time savings. Adobe PDF Print Engine technology and spot colour libraries are embedded for accurate reproduction, along with automatic spot colour detection tools for advanced colour management. Additionally, full support of roll cutters, cutting plotters, and flatbed cutting devices is included to streamline print and cut workflows.

Sebastien Hanssens, Caldera’s VP of marketing and operations, said: “We’ve created this new RIP package to reach out to users at the smaller end of the market who might have previously been put off by the cost and complexity of existing RIP packages. By introducing a new RIP, we’re providing affordable access to professional-level printing to a whole new group of potential customers.”

Subscribers can choose between three versions of the new package – Essentials, Pro, and Max. By opting for Pro, users will benefit from InkPerformer to save up to 25% ink, and Smart Import to automate job submission to the RIP. Additionally, Max users will benefit from the Rest API, the RGB Workflow, and Print Standard Verifier modules.

“Providing new and existing customers with solutions that fit the way they want to print lies at the heart of everything we do,” said Mr Hanssens. “With GrandRIP, we’re extending our offering to users who will have had little experience of a proprietary RIP product before. It’s our chance to teach a new customer base just how easy and cost-effective it is to produce high-quality large format printing.”

The company has also announced that it has expanded the support of CalderaRIP to include new digital textile printers. Find out more on our sister magazine – Digital Textile Printer – website.
