Birmingham-based signage and print provider Hollywood Monster has installed a new swissQprint Kudu flatbed printer. The installation took place in March and is aimed at elevating productivity, print quality, and sustainability.

The six-colour Kudu printer, configured with white, varnish, and neon yellow and pink inks, features 10 channels of print heads. It also includes roll-to-roll and dual-roll capabilities, allowing Hollywood Monster to work with a variety of board and roll-based media.

The Kudu’s 3.2 × 2m print bed can print up to 341sqm/hr. It also maintains energy efficiency, averaging just 2.2 kilowatt-hours. This mix of performance and sustainability made it an ideal choice for Hollywood Monster, whose client base spans property, retail, events, exhibitions, and sports, including major brands like McDonald’s, Adidas, and Birmingham City FC.

“This new addition opens a wealth of opportunities for us,” said group operations director Mat Jephcott. “Creativity and sustainability are a must, and the Kudu fits perfectly with our journey.”

The company has made progress on environmental goals, replacing PVC in 80% of its product range and aiming for 100% by year-end. It also partnered with Reconomy in 2023 to reduce landfill waste by 80% and installed compacting bailers for efficient recycling.

Founded over 30 years ago as Hollywood Signs, the company evolved into Hollywood Monster in 2009. CEO of the company Simon McKenzie said, “We’re a fun business, but serious about delivering the highest standards. Our new Kudu will help us do just that.”

Ian Maxfield, regional sales manager at swissQprint UK, concluded: “Choosing the Kudu shows real intent from Hollywood Monster to lead in quality, creativity, and sustainability.”
