The FabriVu 340i does away with separate heat fixing

EFI’s announcements at Fespa included the introduction of 3.2 and 5m hybrid printers and 3.4m dye-sublimation roll-fed model, plus a greener pigment ink option for its Reggiani range of industrial textile printers.

The h series of hybrid printers had their worldwide premiere in Berlin. The 3.2m h3 has three rows of Ricoh 5th  generation 7pl print heads for throughput of 74 boards per hour and can be field upgraded to the 5m h5 specification for 109 boards per hour.

Both models offer 1200dpi resolution which EFI’s Ken Hanulec said is a first in a hybrid printer and offers ‘near perfect’ imaging of 2pt type. Both also support four or eight-channel printing modes, including white, and can image five layers in a single pass. The 3h and 5h will be available from the end of June.

Offering inline fixing via calender, the FabriVu 340i is a 3.4m dispersed dye printer that uses water-based inks for textile and soft signage use. The heat platen can be removed to also allow printing on transfer paper. A first customer for this unit was announced, Cover Up of Dublin; this is also the 100th  FabriVu machine to be sold.

New pigment-and-binder inks for the Reggiani line of high volume fabric printers allow for inline polymerisation within the printer, doing away with the need to steam and wash fabrics after printing. This reduces energy consumption and saves time thanks to fewer steps being required in the production process.
