Roland DG has released a new family of flatbed and belt UV-LED printers
Debuting at Fespa, Roland DG has presented the VersaUV S-Series range of flatbed and belt UV-LED printers that comprises seven models.
The VersaUV S-Series is available in a range of configurations and sizes from 760 to 1600mm, and can print graphics, photographic images, textures and embossed effects onto virtually any substrate up to 200mm in height. An automated profiling facility allows items of different heights to be printed and images without further user adjustment.
Paul Willems, head of business development and product management EMEA explained, ‘The VersaUV S-Series is designed to fit into any workflow – a next step for existing users of benchtop UV printers, businesses with ambition looking to enter the world of UV printing or those with more “industrial” scale requirements. Whether users are looking for a robust flatbed to direct print onto rigid substrates and objects, or the option to print flexible, roll-to-roll or rigid materials and items with a belt system, the VersaUV S-Series can do it.’
Sturdy enough to handle substrates and objects weighing up to 100kg/sqm, high-impact one-off graphics can be printed onto large or heavy substrates, with a “reverse vacuum” system aiding loading and positioning.
Roland also introduced the LD-80, which it said is the world’s first laser foil decoration system for personalising plastic objects such as high value cosmetics containers, and previewed three other forthcoming products. These were the Texart RT-640M, which adds direct textile printing capability to the existing RT-640 dye-sub model, including deep penetration into fabric for double-sided applications such as flags; the EJ-640 Deco, a digital wallpaper printer that uses water-based inks to meet Oekotex Passport standards for applications in sensitive environments; and the VersaExpress RF-640, which adds red, green and orange inks for “the widest gamut in the signage market”. Availability dates for these were not given.
