HP Indigo 12000 with HD heads. The difference is on the inside – and in the print.

Pureprint has become the first UK printer to add high definition (HD) print heads to an HP Indigo digital press with the upgrade of a B2 machine at its Uckfield site.

The HD capability has been installed on Pureprint’s newest Indigo, a B2 format 12000 model that brings the company’s Indigo fleet to six, doubling print resolution by means of an additional 12 laser beams. This should achieve higher image smoothness which HP claims surpasses offset quality by printing at 1600dpi with image line screen sets up to 290lpi.

Mark Handford, CEO of Pureprint commented, “‘Many of our customers are interested in high-end print production where colour and quality are very important. Last year the judges for one of our award wins kindly described our digital print work as “perfection” but the HP Indigo high definition print heads offer a further advance. Luxury brands and the fine art publishing sector in particular will appreciate the new level of print detail that this investment brings and the results we have seen show that digital printing can match our top end HD litho FM screen work.’

UK & Ireland country manager for HP Indigo/PWP Peter Jolly commented, ‘The upgrade to the HD head is such a logical choice for Pureprint, a company synonymous with high quality and fine art printing.’
