Job seeker: finding job status is speeded by customisable job boards
Belgian software developer Enfocus has announced Switch 2018, the newest version of its print production automation software which it says supports “agility, transparency and openness”.
Switch product manager Toon Van Rossum explained that the effectiveness of automation relies on these three characteristics: ‘When automation is driving your business, it is essential that you have a solution that provides full control and transparency of your production. It needs to be agile in order to scale with your business as you diversify, and it needs to be open so that all disparate – multi-vendor – systems, both old and new, connect to each other. It’s what I refer to as “true automation” and this is our mission with Switch.’
Key new features in the 2018 release include the Job Finder, a customer request that helps users quickly find the status of a job wherever it is in a Switch-enabled workflow. This is facilitated through customisable job boards which can be tailored to the specifics of each installation or site.
Connectivity with external services is achieved via Webhooks, a tool for automation script-writers, app developers and systems integrators that allows external applications such as MIS or services to send notifications to Switch to trigger automated events or prompt manual decisions. Private data makes data handling easier and more accessible as storing, customising and managing specific data can be done without scripting skills.
