The GMG technology should help produce the most accurate renditions of special spot colours on digital inkjet devices

GMG and Global Graphics have announced a technology partnership to tackle colour and quality issues in digital packaging and label production, putting GMG software into the latter’s inkjet press DFE-building tools.

The partnership will see GMG technology for colour matching embedded into Global Graphics’ Fundamentals, a software and engineering services package for building digital front ends (DFEs) for inkjet digital presses such as those now starting to appear for packaging applications.

GMG managing director Ian Scott explained, ‘High-speed inkjet technology continues to develop at an impressive rate. However, colour management needs have not been fully addressed. The combination of Global Graphics DFE technology and GMG OpenColor prediction and profiling technology fulfils the ever-increasing quality and production demands.’

Justin Bailey, managing director of Global Graphics, added, ‘We are really excited to be working with the go-to company for high quality colour management in the labels and packaging market. GMG’s unique technology enables brand colours to be accurately reproduced on a digital press without loss of colour accuracy. It’s important in digital printing to be able to convert spot colors designed for a traditional press to the process colors available in digital. This enhancement to Fundamentals will benefit our OEM customers who need this capability in their DFE.’
