The DuSense was demonstrated to attendees at Duplo’s London Calling event
Kingswood iOptus is the next UK customer for a DuSense “sensory” digital spot UV coater, it was revealed at Duplo’s London Calling open house event at the company’s UK headquarters in Addlestone, Surrey on 8 February.
Speaking to Digital Printer, Kingswood managing director Alan Rigglesford said he had been ‘over the moon’ with trials that had been conducted over recent months and that customers who had seen the output were now ‘insisting on it’.
‘The DuSense will guarantee customer retention,’ he commented, adding that the company is also interested in offering trade services around the device’s capabilities. The installation is planned to take place at the company’s City of London site in March.
Attendees at Duplo’s annual London Calling event heard from DuSense owner Toovia Perl whose 80-strong business C Copy operates three branches in Tel Aviv, Israel, offering large format, offset and HP Indigo and Xerox-based digital print services.
Mr Perl said he chose the DuSense over more expensive alternatives for price, quality and “good experience” with Duplo, whose DC445 creaser and 5000 Pro booklet maker were already in use. He explained that once customers had seen free samples of the digital spot coating, they were happy to pay around 50% more per sheet and that in the three months or so since the DuSense had been in use, both turnover and profits had increased.
He also reported that between 30 and 40% of C Copy’s production – mostly business cards and invitations but also book covers – was going through the DuSense and that he intends to buy a second unit this year.
Duplo also used the London Calling event to show a software update to its iSaddle booklet stitcher that enables different sizes of booklets to be nested and bound.
