EFI CEO Guy Gecht wants to look forward rather than back
Despite a poor year compared to recent performance, EFI just edged ahead of its 2016 full-year results to turn in a record annual result of US $993.3 million, up by 0.1%, and a fourth quarter like-for-like figure up by 1%.
Fourth quarter 2017 revenue was $269.2 million, 1% up from the $266.7 million in the year-earlier period, but with a net loss of $25.4 million compared to an earlier net income of $19.9 million. Likewise, the annual figures showed a small loss for 2017 versus a bigger profit for 2016; cashflow from operating activities was also down by 86%.
CEO Guy Gecht commented: ‘The performance of our direct business drove record quarterly and full year revenue for EFI. We look for this growth from inkjet and software to accelerate in the first quarter. Having just finished a very exciting Connect users’ conference, the EFI team is energised as we enter 2018, with a year full of new product introductions across the Company and Nozomi on track for a strong first year in the corrugated market.’
An exclusive interview with Mr Gecht, carried out at the Connect user conference, sheds more light on the company’s performance and plans and will be published in the February issue of Digital Printer.
