Manor Printing has brought its case binding in-house

A Fastbind binding package from Ashgate Automation has enabled Manor Printing in Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire to bring its case binding in-house, saving both time and money.

The package included a Pureva XT hot melt binder, an H46Pro Casematic table-top casemaker, as well as a Presso thermal press and Maxit roller coating adhesive and gluing systems. These will support production of case-bound company registers and other work printed on its Heidelberg litho presses and Heidelberg, Xerox and Canon digital presses.

Prior to the installation of the Casematic, the company’s casemaking was outsourced. ‘The lead time was sometimes up to eight weeks but now we can turn this type of work around as soon as the orders come in, which gives us more flexibility to grow this area of the business,’ said Chris Holloway, managing director.

The company is also using the Fastbind equipment for the production of short-run hard back diaries and planner books. Mr Holloway continued, ‘We wanted a casemaking system that produced a quality product at a sensible price. Although we use the equipment regularly, we do not have the volume to justify investment in full automation. We bought the Casematic H46Pro because it gives us the greatest flexibility in format size.’ He expects that the equipment will pay for itself in six to 12 months.
