The family-run company has invested heavily in its finishing
Cornwall-based print and design company Deltor has bought an MBO K8 fully automatic folder for approximately £200,000 from Friedheim International.
The installation is in line with the company’s commitment to reduce its carbon footprint and to be more environmentally friendly.
Sam Shannon, managing director, stated that the new unit is already doing 12,500s/hour producing 32pp A5 booklets. ‘We wanted to be more competitive on the longer run section work against some of our competitors. We’ve been firing on all cylinders since it’s gone in – we’ve probably doubled our folding speed.
‘As we’ve also got PUR binding and stitching in-house, we were previously coming in some days and it was a case of having to fold and get the binder running overnight or fold and get the stitchers running. Now we’re coming in and all of the booklet machines are able to run – increasing our folding speed has allowed us to be more efficient in all areas.’
The family-run company has invested heavily in its finishing with two complete Schneider Profi-line finishing flowline systems with 115 guillotines, Wohlenberg perfect binding line, saddlestitch trim line from. The company has also recently invested £3 million in plant machinery, and last year purchased a new Ricoh Pro C9100 digital press, replacing an older 901.
