The pack is manufactured from plant-based materials and a compostable film laminate
Speciality packaging solutions provider, Parkside, has expanded its support to the clean eating, clean living market with the development of a compostable wrapper for nutritious food brand Nobó’s new range of chocolate.
Based in Ireland, the health food brand, known for its award-winning dairy free ice cream, has launched a range of plant based, milk style chocolate. The launch of the alternative chocolate range is the company’s first move outside of the frozen food category.
Parkside was commissioned to produce a wrapper for the new chocolate range in alignment with the wholesome plant based chocolate. The solution created was a pack manufactured from plant-based materials and a compostable film laminate, achieving excellent environmental, protective and preservative credentials.
Phil O’Driscoll, head of innovation and NPD at Parkside, said, ‘We worked closely together to create a pack that reflected the company’s emphasis on guilt-free indulgence. The chocolate discs are made with sustainable plant based ingredients and are free from dairy, gluten, refined sugar and artificial additives, so the wrapper needed to be as good to the environment as the product is to the body. We are proud to have produced a fully compostable pack that helps rather than hinders the environment.’
The packaging company is at the global forefront of home compostable packaging and now boasts an impressive range of sustainable packs as part of its complete product portfolio. This pack consists of a triple layer structure made up of paper, NatureFlex and bio polymer sealant web and includes bio-based materials such as wood-pulp and corn starch.
Ultra-high definition print technology was used to enhance the pack, which is printed on paper – a typically challenging substrate. The design features a bold minimalist aesthetic in a range of bright colours and includes fine text elements.
