Xerox iGen 5
The new Fiery digital front end (DFE) from EFI supports Xerox’s White Dry Ink capability for the iGen 5 press, and is the first commercially available DFE on the new Fiery FS300 Pro platform.
The Xerox EX-P 5 print server powered by Fiery made its debut at PRINT 17 in Chicago this September.
‘We believe the new capabilities with the Fiery DFE will be a significant asset to our customers, especially as it relates to optimising our fifth station options,’ said Ragni Mehta, vice president and general manager, Cut Sheet Business, Xerox.
The Fiery DFE is designed to make it easy to manage white dry ink (as well as all other fifth station options) throughout the entire job workflow. For example, Fiery ImageViewer, part of the included Fiery Graphic Arts Package, Premium Edition, allows users to view the ink separation in the raster file to see exactly where white will print, preventing inadvertent errors and reducing waste.
‘The new Fiery DFE for the iGen 5 Press is based on the Fiery NX Premium hardware platform,’ said John Henze, vice president of marketing, EFI Fiery. ‘It features HyperRIP enhancements that allow shops to double their processing speed on more types of jobs. It also includes the new Fiery Command WorkStation 6.’
Some of the new Fiery FS300 features include: enhanced handling of spot colours, including the ability to overprint up to 127 spot colours per page. In addition, operators can easily prioritise spot colour edits on a job basis to satisfy their customers’ specific colour preferences. Also new is the Fiery Color Profiler Suite 4.9, a G7 System Certified profiling and calibrating solution that makes it easy for operators at any skill level to calibrate a Fiery Driven Xerox iGen 5 press for G7 compliance; while Object Inspector and Total Area Coverage are two Fiery ImageViewer enhancements that will help operators identify imaging problems related to particular object types without going back to the source files.
