Enveco’s managing director Piyush Shah with the Horizon BQ270V from IFS

Milton Keynes-based greetings cards envelope specialist Enveco has chosen to support its expanding book export service with a Horizon BQ-270V single clamp perfect binder from IFS.

Twelve months ago Enveco started offering books with design-led covers and the company’s growing book production business now exports to countries such as the US, Canada and Australia.

‘That business has steadily grown which is why we needed the new binder,’ explained Piyush Shah, managing director. ‘A year ago we invested in a smart finishing system, an Horizon StitchLiner 6000 with HSF-30s high speed sheet feeder and CF-30 cover feeder. So, when we decided we needed a perfect binder it made sense to talk to IFS.

‘We wanted to start off with the single clamp and then see how the business grows,’ continued Mr Shah. ‘When we need to we can then upgrade to the four-clamp Horizon BQ-470.’

The 500bph Horizon BQ-270V single-clamp perfect binder offers perfect binding and on-demand production of variable thickness books. The binder includes an automated, sensor-activated digital caliper system which consistently measures book block thickness and automatically transfers this data to the binder for quick, automated set-up for books of different thicknesses. It features a large 10.4″ intelligent colour touch-screen, job programming, and a compact configuration.

‘It works like a dream,’ reported Mr Shah. ‘It is easy and fast to set up. All the books we produce can be different and so the variable software that automatically makes ready each book is very useful. It is also highly flexible which ensures production is efficient.

‘It has been running fine from the moment it was installed. We are very happy,’ he concluded.
