Ashwyk’s winning entry for the Watermark Collection
The “best of digital print” award at the 2017 Antalis Review was won by Essex-based Ashwyk for a high-end brochure printed on Antalis stocks on an HP Indigo press.
The twenty-sixth Antalis Review, which principally recognises creative design disciplines but also has “best of” litho and digital print categories, attracted more than 500 entries. Taking the digital print award was Tilbury-based Ashwyk, which has used HP Indigo presses for 10 years. The winning piece was a “short A4” (210 x 260mm) 64-page PUR perfect-bound product catalogue for upmarket bathroom fittings supplier the Watermark Collection, designed by Bold Wise Design and printed by Ashwyk on its Indigo 5600 with white ink on Edixion Offset (covers) and Novatech Matt (text).
Commenting on the win, Ashwyk’s Joe De Wykerslooth said, ‘These are the only awards we’ve ever entered – our Antalis sales rep suggested it. It’s a simple job, and the photography helped; some others were perhaps over-specified.’ Ashwyk mixes variable digital print with conventional platen foiling techniques on uncoated and unusual stocks to produce high-end work for clients such as Condé Nast.
The litho print prize was won by Gavin Martin Colournet for Embassy Gardens Property Books, designed by Jaques Vanzo and printed on Olin Smooth Absolute White, which was also the overall print section winner.
Antalis has also issued a “challenge Antalis” call for its presence at The Print Show in Telford in mid-October, in which customers are invited to put their paper-related challenges to the company’s team to find the best solutions and ways to differentiate themselves.
