DG3 produces variable data print via a variety of client-tailored workflows
Global print and communications specialist DG3 has implemented “blisteringly fast” automated workflows driven by Enfocus Switch software with the help of Colour Engine.
DG3 was already an experienced user of Enfocus PitStop pre-flighting software but as a provider of variable data printing services had developed some very complex workflows. Prepress manager Dax Britton explained, ‘We had a hot-folder based workflow and needed more front-end capacity to take on new customers. When Colour Engine offered us a fully-supported 30-day trail of Enfocus Switch, we jumped at the chance.’
Colour Engine staff worked on-site with DG3 to educate staff, develop, test and troubleshoot the workflows. Integration of Switch with existing imposition systems was part of the requirement and some workflows include collection of clients’ files via ftp with no human involvement; collectively they bring consistency to the management and processing of thousands of production files a week.
‘The addition of Switch to PitStop was a natural progression for us and we can now get jobs through our system far quicker than before,’ added Mr Britton. ‘When you start, Switch is a blank canvas and you build the flows as you go. Flows that we expected to take weeks to develop were up and running within days.
‘Both Colour Engine and Enfocus gave us good advice and delivered everything they said they would. Support has been fantastic and we’ll be happy to recommend Switch as a solution,’ he concluded.
