Waitrose has chosen an IFS-supplied Horizon BQ-160 binder to enhance its production
A Horizon BQ-160 single clamp perfect binder has been chosen by Waitrose to update the perfect binding capabilities at its print room in Bracknell.
Waitrose’ print room currently runs litho, digital and reel fed production systems to produce a wide range of print for the John Lewis Partnership Divisions. The single clamp perfect binder replaces a Horizon BQ-150.
‘We picked the Horizon because it was a robust solution that was easy to set up,’ explained Jon Masters, print service manager. ‘It came with everything we wanted. It gives us more confidence to offer perfect binding as a service and build up this type of work.’
The BQ-160 binder can produce perfect bound books up to 1.6″ thick at speeds up to 180 cycles per hour and is also capable of padding and tape binding. ‘It has made padding a much faster process,’ says Mr Masters. ‘It was installed smoothly and has been running well,’ he concluded.
