The Komfi Delta 52 laminator installed at UK Bookbinders
The Komfi Delta 52 is the first laminator to be installed by UK Bookbinders, in a bid to lower costs and realise the benefits of bringing the process in-house.
The Weston-super-Mare based company ordered a Komfi Delta 52 thermal laminator in late June and the device was installed in early July. Although the equipment wasn’t purchased for any specific contracts, the new service is intended to win additional business and attract customers who want the applications that the Komfi can offer.
‘We were looking for our first step into a new service to enable faster turnaround for our customers and also enable us to extend a more comprehensive offering that would complement the work we already undertake,’ explained Lee Gray, general manager. ‘After several months of research into what our customers would like and have a requirement for we decided that lamination was a box ticked more often than any other.
‘We were impressed with [the Komfi Delta 52’s] ease of set-up, versatility, build quality and small footprint,’ Mr Gray reported. ‘It was paramount that a certain level of automation and user friendliness was present and when compared to other offerings this model was nominated as the most compatible with our requirements. The B2 model was deemed the most suitable for our initial foray into this market.’
UK Bookbinders has raised the possibility of upgrading to a B1 model with Friedheim, receiving the assurance that that ‘every effort would be made to make that transition as seamless as possible.’ Mr Gray added: ‘It is important to me to deal with suppliers that understand not only our existing needs but also our aspirations and are prepared to help us make those first steps without pushing us towards things we perhaps can’t justify through research alone.’
