(L-R) Ace Binding owners Matt Hart, Jason Fears and Rob Hart with the Renz Inline 500 Compact

Birmingham-based Ace Binding has installed the UK’s first Renz Inline 500 Compact automatic punching and binding machine to streamline production and double its capacity for books and A3 calendars.

The company estimates that its new automatic punching and binding machine will pay for itself within 18 months. Director Rob Hart, director placed the order after he saw the system in action at Hunkeler Innovationdays in February.

‘We were punching separately and wanted a system that would complete A3 calendars in one streamlined process,’ explained Rob Hart, director. ‘The Renz Inline 500 Compact makes us 100% more productive.

‘Last year and the year before we were turning work away,’ he continued. ‘This year in our busy season, that starts in August, we can say yes to the work. We are confident that we can efficiently complete it and to the highest quality.”

The new device has already improved workflow and productivity. ‘We can get work in and out faster and that means we can work long days,’  Then if we need to we can add a shift. Overtime has been reduced as well. It has helped us improve our flexibility.”

Mr Hart also anticipates that the Ace will lead to new orders. ‘Once we have added new customers we can then talk to them about other services we offer such as PUR binding. We expect to open up a lot more business that way.’
