Oasis Graphic Co printed giant wall coverings featuring a rising sun onto Drytac film for the Roundhouse’s foyer and stairwell area

The stairwell of London’s Roundhouse was decorated for a recent charity event using Drytac’s printable film.

On 18 May the Ubuntu Education Fund, a non-profit organisation that provides health and educational support to children in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, held a charity gala at the Roundhouse in London. The venue was transformed with temporary wall graphics printed by Oasis Graphic Co onto Drytac ReTac 75 Matte film, and formed part of a full event-branding package created and delivered by Fisher Productions.

As a Grade II listed building, it was important that any graphics used in the Roundhouse could be installed and removed cleanly. Part of the ReTac range of printable and permanently-peelable films, Drytac’s ReTac 75 is a 75-micron white polymeric PVC film coated on one side with a pressure-sensitive low-tack repositionable polyacrylate adhesive.

‘Fisher Productions provided us with the artwork and we were charged with printing the graphics and installing them at The Roundhouse,’ explained Stacey Bearne, Oasis project manager.

‘We printed the graphics in-house on our Mimaki JV33 solvent printer,’ she continued. ‘We’ve used the Drytac ReTac film a number of times recently for temporary graphics and it perfectly met the needs of the Roundhouse project. The graphics had to adhere to the rough concrete surface and – perhaps more importantly – they had to come off the walls simply and cleanly after the event.’

The final printed graphic comprised eight panels and measured 10.5m wide by 4.7m high.

‘The Ubuntu Education Fund were very happy with the end-result and thought the graphics looked great,’ said Claire Butcher, lead production manager at Fisher Productions. ‘The event was also a huge success, raising valuable money for this very worthy cause.’
