Endless variations of chewing gum packaging produced for Japanese brand Lotte
A Japanese chewing gum company has used HP Indigo printing technology to produce more than two million unique packs for a campaign to engage with millennials and mark the product’s 20th anniversary.
Toppan Printing of Japan printed the packaging for Lotte’s Xylitol chewing gum on its HP Indigo 20000 with the variations created using HP SmartStream Mosaic technology. The software algorithm automatically generates unique graphics from seed patterns, in this case from 20 patterns created by 20 design groups.
‘In order for us to take the next step, we decided to create uniquely designed packages expressing the vision of the future from the top 20 influential Japanese groups in their 20s,’ said Takashi Fukuda, manager at Xylitol brand team, marketing, Lotte Ltd (Japan). ‘By creating a vision of the future together with today’s young generation and a unique experience for our customers, we are able to engage and connect the number one gum brand in a new and inspiring way.’
