Dyss X5-1630 digital cutter – “at least 30% more productive”

Bradford-based Creative Display Group has installed a Dyss X5-1630 digital cutter and Kasemake software from AG/CAD to streamline production and undertake large format work.

The X5-1630 joins two other digital cutters (from a different vendor) used for prototyping work and production packaging at the cosmetic and beauty industry PoS display manufacturer.

‘We needed a larger, faster machine for production purposes, something that would also release capacity from the cutter allocated to packaging whilst offering back-up for the prototyping cutter,’ explained John Charman, managing director.

The company’s relatively low production volume of PoS display work is suited to a digital cutter. ‘We were spending anything from £2000 to £3000 per month on cutting forms,’ revealed Mr Charman. ‘By using the Dyss, we have eliminated this expense and reduced costs for our customer base.’

Running on a two-shift pattern, Creative Display has identified that the new machine is at least 30% more productive than its existing cutters. The 3.2m by 1.6m cutting area on the X5-1630 has also given the company the capacity to undertake large-format work.
