The “Vutek of industrial textile printing” has been unveiled in Hamburg by EFI, along with a new addition to the Pro range of hybrid flatbed/roll-to-roll printers.

The first day of Fespa saw EFI make the worldwide debut of the Reggiani ReNoir Flexy, an industrial-strength textile printer that can print a wide variety of fabrics, including stretchy types, thanks to “Dynaplast” technology which holds the fabric securely during imaging. The 1.8 m width printer has a production speed of more than 400 sqm/hr with a resolution of up to 2400 dpi. Suggested applications for the new model include apparel, interior furnishing and technical and specialist garments and fabrics.

Speaking at the launch event, EFI senior vice-president Scott Schinlever noted that digital printing of textiles represents less than five per cent of the total market and that there is a “huge opportunity” to capitalise on this burgeoning technology.

Addressing the sign and graphics market, EFI has added the Pro 16h, a hybrid roll/flatbed LED printer which sits in the range above the Pro 1625 model, offers white ink and runs 30 to 40% faster, yielding up to 90 sqm/h at up to 1200 dpi. Part of the greater throughput is attributed to the “hard-wired” inclusion of the Fiery controller into the printer’s electronics.
