Working with their suppliers, Vision Paper and Board have come up with an effective ‘pinch weights’ solution to rising prices.
‘Pinch weights are slightly below standard grammages, providing more paper per tonne and so improved yields on a job,’ explained Ian Pentland, commercial director at the Midlands company. ‘Sometimes these savings can be quite high and can certainly help to reduce the impact of rising paper prices.’
The new pinch weights are exclusive to Vision Paper and Board in their Calisto High Bulk coated paper range.
‘Comparing our 110 gsm against a standard 115 gsm can result in a saving of 4.3% without loss of quality,’ added Mr Pentland. ‘This level of competitiveness can make the difference between winning and losing an important job.’
In a further effort to help printers claw back some of the recent paper price increases, Vision Paper & Board also offers a comprehensive bespoke sheeting option that covers non-standard sizes. ‘Our customers can order the exact size they need for the job, minimising waste to help reduce costs,’ said Peter Featherstone, regional inside sales manager. ‘On our fleet of Pasaban machines we can sheet sizes ranging from large format 1850 x 2200 mm right down to a minimum of 300 x 320 mm, ensuring the right size for every job. Depending on the final size, savings of up to 18% can be easily achieved.’
