Leicestershire-based Frip Finishing is creating four apprenticeship opportunities in 2017, in addition to taking on two apprentices in production administration.
Of the four apprenticeships available at the packaging and print finishing company, which employs 70 people and operates out of five locations around the UK, those in Glasgow and Manchester have already been filled. The new apprentices will join the four who started their training with Frip Finishing in 2016, and there are plans to take on four additional trainees in 2018.
The end goal is to achieve an NVQ Level 3 in print finishing, which will take between 18 and 30 months and cover a range of skills including coatings, lamination and foil blocking. A number of written and online assignments need to be completed and trainees are constantly reviewed by the BPIF training co-ordinators who act as mentors to the apprentices through the whole training period.
‘It is important to take on young talent now,’ commented Leslie Gibson, group managing director. ‘With good skills in Maths and English, our apprentices will be trained to the high standards required.’
‘My colleagues and I are extremely pleased with the progress and performance of the four apprentices who joined the business in 2016,’ he added.
