The Pro 8120e is part of the system Ricoh supplied to Clays

St Ives’ book printing division Clays has become the first major European customer for Ricoh’s Digital Book Printing Solution.

Debuted at drupa, the solution combines Ricoh’s TotalFlow BatchBuilder software with its 8120e black and white cut sheet printers.

TotalFlow BatchBuilder automates file batching and imposing 4-up on SRA3 and it integrates into the existing MIS to report and track single book production.

Return on investment is expected to be 18 months.

Paul Hulley, Clays managing director, said, ‘We researched what solutions were available. Ricoh’s Digital Book Printing Solution was best suited to meet our requirements.’

Stephen Palmer, director Production Print at Ricoh UK said, ‘A high volume of small jobs can be very challenging. TotalFlow BatchBuilder streamlines the process to save time, increase throughput, improve printer utilisation and reduce setup time for the bindery. This allows ultra-short run jobs to be completed efficiently and profitably. Clays is already seeing these benefits translate into real production enhancements.’
