ChromaLuxe high-definition photo panels printed with the SubliJet inks should last for 64 years

Sawgrass’ SubliJet-IQ Pro Photo XF inks for Epson 7890 and 9890 printers have earned a print display permanence rating of 64 years from Wilhelm Imaging Research.

‘For many printmakers, offering extended print display permanence is a top concern,’ said Patrick McGinnis, Sawgrass’s director of product marketing. ‘We wanted to provide a solution that would greatly lessen the impact light can have on the longevity of a print.’

Sawgrass worked with ChromaLuxe to develop XF inks for increased UV stability, image longevity and performance on ChromaLuxe media. Wilhelm Imaging Research (WIR) multi-factor print permanence tests found extended colorfastness with image permanence of 64 – more than three times that of prints made on silver halide photo paper.

‘What a print looks like when it emerges from the heat press tells you nothing at all about how long it will last,’ commented Henry Wilhelm, director of research at WIR. ‘Sublimation on metal photo panels is a new and rapidly advancing technology, and all aluminium photo panels are by no means the same. If using untested products, both you and your customers are flying blind.’

Sawgrass’s eight-cartridge set features three black inks: which extend the longevity of prints, in addition to enhanced skin tones, neutrals and detail.
