Baroness Dean will be The Printing Charity’s 2017 president
The Rt Hon. Baroness Dean of Thornton-le-Fylde has accepted an invitation to be the organisation’s 2017 president.
Baroness Dean started her working life in the trade union movement as a teenager, and in 1983 became president of the Society of Graphical and Allied Trades (SOGAT), the printing, publishing and paper trades union. She was its general secretary between 1985 and 1991. The Baroness is a Labour Life peer, sitting in the House of Lords since 12 October 1993, and was appointed a member of the Privy Council in 1998.
‘Once printing is in your blood, it never leaves you,’ said Baroness Dean. ‘I am looking forward to continuing my association with what is still a great industry as the charity’s 2017 President and supporting the annual Print Futures Awards.’
