The Tx300P-1800B uses a sticky belt to print stretchy materials such as knits and can use five inks, including a textile pigment ink

A printer specifically designed to address the need in the textile and apparel industries for cost-effective, short run printing of textiles has been launched by Mimaki.

The firm believes that the upturn in online shopping is increasing demand for custom products, as customers shift away from designs widely available in retail outlets.

The Tx300P-1800B uses a sticky belt to print bulky textured materials, sheer fabric and stretchy materials such as knits. It is 1.8 metres wide and capable of printing at speeds up to 50 sqm/hr, and resolutions of up to 1,440dpi.

Hybrid Services national sales manager – textile & apparel, Stephen Woodall commented, ‘this is a very exciting development, bringing speed, quality and flexibility to the market at a very accessible price.

‘The Tx300P-1800B brings game-changing technical innovation within the reach of many more garment makers and manufacturers.’

Five ink types are available for the Tx300P-1800B. These include acid, dispersion, reactive and sublimation dye inks and a textile pigment ink. The firm highlighted that the pigment inks remove the need for steaming or washing, thus reducing time, cost and potential water pollution.
