Blackman & White’s managing director, Alex White

UK cutter manufacturer Blackman & White has been shortlisted in the Export Champion of the Year category of the Amazon Growing Business Awards 2016.

‘We’re absolutely delighted to be on the shortlist of Export Champions – we actually export around half of our machines so it’s a very important and massive growth area for us,’ said Alex White, managing director. ‘We find that the reputation of British manufacturing and the standards people have come to expect from us as a company really help us sell our goods overseas.

‘Obviously Brexit is a top issue on the minds of anyone who either exports or imports goods at the moment,’ he noted, ‘and while the process of leaving the EU will undoubtedly create some challenges we also need to be open to the possibilities and opportunities it will offer.’

Previous winners at the Amazon Growing Business Awards have included Innocent Drinks, Betfair, Lovefilm and Fever-Tree, while VIP guests at the ceremony have included Bill Gates, Gordon Brown and Stelios Haji-Ioannou. This year the awards will be presented on 30 November at The Brewery, London.

Blackman & White recently took home the 2016 SGIA Product of the Year Award for Finishing-Routers/Cutters, for the VersaTech2 ‘All in One’ cutter developed through its partnership with US-based MCTdigital
