To simplify its workflow and to output to litho or digital technology through a single RIP, PPS Print has bought a Versafire CP from Heidelberg.

The company’s existing Xerox digital press had been in use for five years and so an upgrade was on the cards.

‘The major factor in our decision was Heidelberg’s Prinect workflow and the reassurance of working with a single supplier,’ said Marcus Brailsford, managing director. ‘We have a Speedmaster SM 52 Anicolor and we will be able to output to our litho equipment or our digital with ease and without having to change imposition or run through another RIP.’

PPS Print was also attracted by the accessibility of the machine, which allows easy maintenance or sheet removal in the case of a jam, and the Versafire’s ability to print up to 700 mm long sheets and to handle duplex work on stocks up to 400 gsm.

The new press will be delivered to PPS and installed in the extension at its Peterborough plant at the end of October.
