Finishing equipment like the ColorCut 500 (pictured) and ColorFlare was a ‘natural move’ for Intec.

Launching the ColorFlare and the ColorCut 500, Intec Printing Solutions has made its first move into commercial print finishing.

‘It has been clear to us for a while now that the professional print market is moving towards producing printed products that customers cannot produce on the digital printers they have in their homes and offices,’ said Intec director of business development Mark Baker-Homes. ‘Therefore it was natural for us to move into the market of offering finishing devices that help our customers to add value to their print.’

The ColorCut 500 is a desktop digital cutter that can be used to contour cut labels and print, taking 30-40 seconds per SRA3 sheet depending on complexity. The £4,300 device is capable of producing up to 1,000 sheets per day. It has an automated pneumatic feeder and smart mark reading, enabling it to run automatically and to correct for any image drift or skew.

The ColorFlare is the latest laminating machine that can also be used to for digital foiling effects, where a toner image is used to create a mask for the foil.

‘We called it the ColorFlare because the decorative effects that it enables add some flare to your print,’ said Mr Baker-Homes. ‘It enables you to take it beyond four colours and to add something special that leaves a lasting impression.’

The £9,999 machine can handle sheets up to 380 mm wide and 1.3 m long, enabling it to handle SRA3 output and long sheets.

Mr Baker-Holmes said that the two machines were complementary to each other and Intec’s range of digital printers: ‘I’ve got a whisky box on my desk that was printed on a ColorSplash, soft touch laminated and foiled on the ColorFlare and cut on the ColorCut 500.’

The two machines, which received a lot of attention when unveiled in the US at Graph Expo last month, will make their UK debut at The Print Show.
