The Mimaki Tx500P-3200DS’s built in, inline heat fixation unit is capable of generating temperatures of up to 200°C

Mimaki’s new Tx500P-3200DS 3.2 m direct sublimation printer combines printing and inline heating for colour fixation in a single operation.

‘The new machine’s ability to deliver print and heat fixation in a single operation is a genuinely unique feature,’ said Stephen Woodall, national sales manager – textile and apparel of Hybrid Services Ltd, Mimaki’s exclusive distributor in the UK and Ireland. ‘Direct sublimation transfer printing requires the fixing of printed inks through heating, and this machine’s ability to deliver this at the same time as printing removes a step in the traditional process.’

Mimaki cites the growing demand for soft signage as a key driver behind the development of the new model, which has a print speed capability of up to 130 sqm/hr in 4-colour print mode and up to 105 sqm/hr in 6-colour mode, and was designed to meet growing demand for small lot orders and shortened cycle times.

The first machines are expected to be shipped in January 2017.
