UVgel print technology from Canon will feature in a new line of roll to roll printers.
The firm claims that the UV cured ink offers the wide colour gamut and thin ink film of eco-solvent printing with the environmental benefits and safety profile of latex, with up to 40% lower printing costs than either process.
The first product to use UVgel will be a high productivity 64 inch wide roll to roll printer to be released in the Spring of 2017. It will use LED curing and a ‘next generation’ piezo printhead.
‘Our new technology addresses the limitations of eco-solvent and latex printing,’ said Jeppe Frandsen, executive vice-president, industrial and production solutions, Canon Europe. ‘This will help our customers increase production efficiency while lowering operating costs.’
