Horizon BQ-270 binder
Whites has upgraded its bindery to enable it to deal with one-off jobs more efficiently.
The family run commercial printer based in County Durham has invested in a Horizon BQ-270, supplied by IFS, which has automated the process and in some instances halved production time.
‘We just got to the tipping point where automating the process and adding inline creasing required investment in a new perfect binder,’ said Iain Glendenning, director of print production. ‘The BQ270 ticked all the boxes. It is quick and easy to set up and reduces the amount of time it takes to complete work. Overs and make-ready is reduced and there is less waste. It has all come together at the right time. The investment made sense and it is already paying for itself. It means we can complete work a lost faster and that expands our capacity.’
It has also enabled the firm to move work that was previously wire bound to perfect binding. The BQ-270 replaced a Horizon BQ-260, which was manually set up.
The 10- staff firm offers digital and litho print using Konica Minolta and Heidelberg presses.
