Tim Kirwin of Wilder Things UK with children from Belarus on a woodland experience funded by Premier Paper Group
The independent paper merchant has given its support to Longridge Print and their chosen charity, Friends of Chernobyl’s Children, which helps families and children affected by the 1986 nuclear disaster.
Premier Paper Group sponsored a weekend woodland camping experience for children from contaminated areas of Belarus during a month-long visit to the UK funded by the charity.
‘The kids were so enthusiastic and got involved in everything I challenged them with,’ commented Tim Kirwin of Wilder Things UK, who helped the children to prepare and cook meals over an open fire, build mini dens, and learn how to make their own bows and arrows. ‘Thanks to all involved for inviting me along and thanks to Premier Paper for funding my time.’
For a month each year, the children receive recuperative healthcare, English lessons, and are looked after by their UK host families. For more information about Friends of Chernobyl’s Children event, visit: www.focc.org.uk.
