The fourth generation of the Adobe PDF Print Engine (APPE4) has been announced.
New features include Tile Parallel Processing, which is promised to improve the speed and efficiency of ripping large format jobs. Additionally performance is up to 10 times faster for some processes and spot colour support has been extended to 127 channels. Products based on the new version of the software are expected to be made available by Adobe partners by the end of 2016. APPE-based workflows are operating in 150,000 locations worldwide.
