Friedheim has launched a small footprint wrapper, which offers the unique ability to swap between plastic and paper wrapping.
The Buhrs 3000 Compact Poly & Paper Wrapping System takes between 10-30 minutes to change between jobs. One major advantage claimed for the new machine is the ability to create envelopes of any size on the fly, eliminating the storage and handling costs associated with buying ready made envelopes. Servo feeders can be quickly changed from left to right or inline positioning on the gathering section. The high degree of automation on the machine, including extensive use of servos and motorisation reduces operator intervention and speeds up makeready times.
Maximum mechanical speed is 15000 products per hour. Product size ranges from 160 x 100 mm to 420 x 300 mm. Product thickness to be wrapped ranges from a single 60 gsm sheet up to 35mm thick. Optionally thicker products up to 60 mm may be wrapped. Maximum variation in thickness between items is 4 mm, with an option of extending that to 60mm. Supported films include PE and PP, with others available subject to testing.
